THE officers and members of the Sir George White Memorial Flute Band Broughshane are celebrating their 30th Anniversary year by holding a dinner in the Adair Arms Hotel on Saturday, November 15.
The festivities start at 7.00pm with a four course dinner and music to follow. The band is calling on all members, past and present, families and supporters to get in touch.

This is one of the various events the band has planned over the year to celebrate its 30th Anniversary.

The series of events have been partly sponsored by the Awards for All Grant received via the National Lottery. A BBQ was held in September at Eaton park. It proved to be a great success and the band is hoping that the 30th Anniversary Dinner will be as popular. The band is also holding a Culture Day on Saturday, November 22 in the Community centre in Broughshane.

As well as celebrating 30 years of the band, they will also commemorate 90 years since the end of World War 1. The event will take a look back in time, portraying the songs, memories and artefacts from the 1914-18 conflict and how they influence today's marching band culture.

A large number of musicians have passed through the ranks of the band in the past 30 years. Some unfortunately, the band have lost contact with. Hopefully all ex-members who read this will take up the invitation to book their tickets for the evening by contacting known members, or by calling Secretary Davy Black on 2586 2810 or 078252 23733.

"The present members are grateful to all who have helped the band in the last 30 years, and it would be great to see as many of the 'old hands' at the dinner as possible," said Davy.
