The figures were released as part of the Governments population estimates for the area.
The total population for the borough is estimated at just over 61,000 people, which makes it the second biggest borough in County Antrim.
It has also been revealed that in the over 65 age group, women out number men by nearly 1500.
Figures show the future is bright for the borough with over 8000 people between the ages of 10 and 20. However 35-40 year olds are the largest age group in the borough.
There is a very healthy number over 80 year olds with almost 2500 in the Ballymena area.
Overall in Northern Ireland the population has grown to 1.75 million, which is an increase of 1%.
