Derry GAA star Anthony Tohill has been appointed as chief executive of the new Mid Ulster super council.
Mr Tohill, who helped Derry to All-Ireland glory in 1993 and managed the Ireland Australian rules team, is understood to have been appointed on Monday night.
Last year, he sustained serious injuries after a chainsaw accident.
In recent years, he has served as a senior official with Derry City Council.
The appointment is expected to be formally announced later today.
